Taper Notes : "this was a first, a "thrash metal" show in Fairbanks, but not at a club, instead at our local "arena", that being the Carlson Center (capacity around 6K). that said, they set up the "half house" configuration, that being putting the stage along the 'long' side of the arena (think the sideline in basketball vs. either end where the hoops are). this actually worked out really well, as it turned the CC into a 3K "theater" type show (the only other concert I went to like this was Great White 13 years earlier), and it made for a much better, less-echoey 'sound' to the recording (actually went out of my way to go compliment the sound man on what a good job he did). I did get really really drunk for this show, so there are a couple of brief moments where friends recognized me and they had to be spoken to, but it was kept to a minimum....somehow, around the middle of the show, I must have bumped into someone, as my levels were reduced drastically during "Washington Is Next!", basically making the last half of the song non-existent. fortunately, I caught this only a couple minutes after it happened, so the 1st minute or so of "A Tout Le Monde" is very hissy, due to really bumping up the levels to 'even it out'. anyhow, this show it pretty rare, I believe, and if it was seeded before, it was years and years ago, and this is a fresh, CORRECTLY MIXED transfer as of April '15."
Pretty nice recording, not the best - boomy, overloaded sometimes, screamers, but evidently great for collection purposes - get a tape from AK is so rare! Thanks a lot, Steve!
